Winter Crops 2025: Ukraine Approaches the Final Stage of Sowing

Sowing Volumes Near Completion
As of 11 November 2025, Ukrainian farmers have sown over 6,194.5 thousand hectares of winter crops, which is 94.5% of the planned area.
In particular, the following crops have been sown:
- winter wheat — 4,507.6 thousand ha;
- winter barley — 544.2 thousand ha;
- winter rye — 66.1 thousand ha;
- winter rapeseed — 1,076.7 thousand ha.
These indicators show that the main sowing work is nearly finished.
Leading Regions in Sowing Progress
The regions demonstrating the largest sowing areas of winter cereals include:
- Odesa region;
- Dnipropetrovsk region;
- Mykolaiv region.
For winter rapeseed, the leading areas are:
- Odesa region;
- Vinnytsia region;
- Mykolaiv region.
This highlights that the most intensive sowing activity is concentrated in southern and central Ukraine.
Regions That Have Already Completed Sowing
According to the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, six regions have fully completed the sowing of winter cereals:
- Zakarpattia,
- Zaporizhzhia,
- Ivano-Frankivsk,
- Poltava,
- Rivne,
- Chernihiv.
Additionally, winter rapeseed sowing has been fully completed in 14 regions.
This means that many regions have already moved into the stage of monitoring and caring for the crops.
Timeline of the Sowing Campaign
The autumn sowing campaign in Ukraine began in early September.
As of 9 September, 727.5 thousand hectares had already been sown.
The first regions to start sowing included:
Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Ternopil, Kherson, Chernivtsi, and Chernihiv regions.
Winter rapeseed is sown almost across the entire country.
