In Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions, the sunflower harvest has begun: what yields the crop shows

26.08.2025
In Ukraine, the sunflower harvest — one of the country’s key oilseed crops — has begun. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and industry associations, as of August 22, 2025, the first hectares have already been harvested in the southern and central regions.
In particular:
- in Odesa region, 2.2 thousand hectares of sunflower have already been harvested,
- in Dnipropetrovsk region — about 1 thousand hectares.
From these areas, 1.8 thousand tons of seeds have been threshed, with an average yield of 5.6 c/ha.
In addition, in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district of Odesa region, the agricultural company “Pivdenna” (part of Tekom Agro Group) reports active harvesting: out of about 700 hectares under the crop, more than 20% of the area has already been harvested. The seed moisture is at 7.8%, which allows harvesting without delays.
Despite regional differences, farmers expect the overall gross sunflower harvest to remain stable. This will ensure the loading of processing plants and secure Ukraine’s status as a leading exporter of sunflower oil, even under challenging logistics conditions.
Dnipro Agro Group plans to start its sunflower harvest on September 15, 2025.
